CHANGING COVERAGE DURING THE YEAR
Go to dayforcehcm.com and select Forms > Life Event Declaration if you experience a life event like having a baby or getting married You must submit a Life Event Change on dayforcehcm.com within 31 days of the event if you want to add/delete or change coverage

Who can enroll, when to enroll and covering family members

You can enroll in medical, dental, vision and life/AD&D if you are a regular full-time employee who works at least 30 hours a week.

Eligible dependents include

  • Your spouse. If you and your spouse are both Ben E. Keith employees, you can enroll as a dependent or as a primary insured person, but not both
  • Your or your spouse’s children, up to age 26, including a natural child, stepchild, legally adopted child, foster child, natural grandchild for whom you have legal guardianship, a child placed for adoption, or a child your spouse is the legal guardian of
  • An unmarried child age 26 or older who is incapable of self-care
  • A child you are required to provide coverage for, due to a Qualified Medical Child Support Order, or any other court or administrative order

When to enroll and when coverage begins

If you want benefits coverage, you must enroll by the 1 st day of the month following your 60th day of employment. If you enroll, coverage for you and any dependents begins on the 1st day of the month following your 60 th day at Ben E. Keith. For instance, if:

You were hired on January 15th, your coverage would begin on April 1st.

If you want to cover family members

If you enroll your eligible dependents, you must provide any re quested documentation to prove the people you want to cover are related to you. Find a list of dependent verification documents in the Learn & Enroll section of bekbenefits.com.

BEK 401(k)
You don’t have to set aside a lot of money to make a big difference in your retirement savings. Simply because you are a Ben E. Keith employee, you are eligible for retirement benefits that help you build your financial future and give you control over your retirement.

Our 401(k) puts you in charge of your retirement savings and gives you matching Company dollars that help you build a financial future. You become eligible on the first day of the month following your 60th day at Ben E. Keith.

Ben E. Keith will match your personal contributions $1 for $1 up to 4% of your pay.

You’re automatically enrolled
Each pay period, money will be automatically deducted from your paycheck at a pre-tax contribution rate of 4% of your pay or whatever amount you elected on empowermyretirement.com. You can change your contribution amount any time.

Invest your way or based on your retirement age
Your contributions are automatically invested in a Vanguard Target Date Fund based on your retirement age, but you can choose actively- or passively-managed funds if you prefer. Manage both your and Ben E. Keith’s contributions at empowermyretirement.com or by calling 1-833-BEK-SAVE (1-833-235-7283). Contact Empower Retirement any time online or by phone to increase, decrease or stop your contributions.

Contribute up to $19,500 in 2021
You can save up to a total amount of $19,500, which includes both BEK’s and your own contributions.

Catch-up contributions help you save even more
If you are age 50 or older at any point during 2021, you can contribute an additional $6,500 to your 401(k) account in 2021, up to the 2021 IRS limit of $26,000.

Vesting made easy
Your personal contributions are always 100% vested, as well as any rollover contributions or earnings in your account. After two years of Company service, you become 100% vested in any Ben E. Keith matching contributions you receive.

Rollovers are welcome
Rollover contributions from qualified retirement plans and IRAs can be rolled over to your BEK 401(k) account. Consult with your financial advisor or Empower Retirement at empowermyretirement.com or 1-833-BEK-SAVE (1-833-235-7283).

Loans are available
You can borrow the lesser of $50,000 or 50% of your eligible total vested account balance. The minimum loan amount is $1,000, and you have up to 60 months to repay your loan, or 120 months if your loan is being used to purchase a primary residence.

Basic Life

Receive $50,000 in BEK Basic Life/AD&D
All full-time Ben E. Keith employees receive $50,000 of Company -paid BEK Basic Life/AD&D. You don’t need to enroll and there is no cost to you.

Paid Vacation

Company-paid holidays
Ben E. Keith observes seven holidays each year. To receive holiday pay, you must work your scheduled days before and after the holiday.

Personal Holiday
On your 90th day at Ben E, Keith, you will receive one Company-paid personal day. You’ll receive a personal day each January 1st to be used during the calendar year with the approval of your supervisor. Personal days do not roll over from year to year.
Profit Sharing

Ben E. Keith is proud that in the past 12 years, we have contributed more than $55 million to the Profit Sharing accounts of our employees. We want to help our employees prepare for a strong financial future. Full-time employees with one year of Company service are eligible for Profit Sharing if Ben E. Keith makes a discretionary contribution.

Medical Coverage for BEK Employees

Ben E. Keith offers two types of medical plans

  • PPO – our more traditional plan with copays when you see a provider or fill a prescription
  • HSA – comes with a $1,000 tax-free Company contribution into a Health Savings Account (or HSA) that you can use to pay for eligible expenses like deductibles and dental or vision care. If you cover your family in the BEK HSA Medical Plan, you will receive a $2,000 Company contribution to your HSA reimbursement account. Use your HSA debit card to pay for expenses while at your doctor’s office, pharmacy or other health care facility, or pay a bill when you receive it. Dental Plans

Spouse and Child Life/AD&D
  • Choose coverage amounts of $50,000 to $250,000 in $50,000 increments
  • Spouse coverage can be up to 50% of the employee supplemental life/AD&D coverage amount, but not more than $250,000
  • EOI is required for your spouse if you choose more than $50,000 in coverage
  • Rates are based on the age of the employee as of January 1st
BEK Child Life/AD&D
  • Pay one amount – no matter how many children you cover up to age 2
  • Each enrolled child will have $10,000 in coverage
  • You may enroll unmarried dependent children age 26 or older who are incapable of self-care due to a mental or physical disability. Your child must be fully dependent on you for support and claimed on your federal tax return.

It is YOUR responsibility to quickly complete the EOI application when requested. If you do not return the EOI application, you will not have additional supplemental life/AD&D coverage for yourself and your spouse will not have spouse life/AD&D coverage.
